Travel & Stay

Why Savannah?!

Because we love it! And we’re hoping you will too.

From the beautiful squares and parks to the iconic riverside district, Savannah is a romantic city. It invites you to slow down, walk around, and explore your surroundings. It’s not uncommon to see adults lounging outside, riding bikes, or creating art in parks. Savannah’s nickname is “the Hostess City of the South,” and she lives up to it. Savannah is a city that embraces play, beauty, art, and leisure. It’s a slice of what we hope the whole world can become one day. We’re really excited to share it with you.

Where do we stay?

The wedding will be at the Alida Hotel in Savannah’s historic Plant Riverside District. We have a block of rooms set aside with the hotel.

If you don’t plan to stay at the Alida, there are several other hotels within walking distance and nice Airbnbs within a short drive.

The wedding will feature an open bar. If you plan to partake, we ask that you pick a hotel within walking distance or use rideshare so that you can get home safe.

How do we get there?

If you’re coming from out of state, Savannah has both an airport and an Amtrak station.

If you’re coming from Atlanta, it’s just under a four-hour drive.

Tell me more about Savannah?

Gladly! Savannah is the oldest city in the state of Georgia and was the original state capital. As such, the place is full of so much rich history.

Some of that history is ugly. Savannah was an important city to the Confederacy, and monuments can still be found around town.

Much of it is beautiful. Savannah is home to First Bryan Baptist Church. Considered to be the “Mother Church of Black Baptists,” the building was purchased in 1793 by Bryan, a former slave who had also purchased his freedom.

Savannah has Jones Street. Known as"the prettiest street in Savannah," several publications have ranked it among the most beautiful streets in the United States. Brick roads flanked by 19th-century homes create a neighborhood that somehow feels both unbelievably beautiful and welcomingly warm.

Famously, Savannah has an open-container policy, meaning you can drink alcohol publicly. It’s not uncommon to order a drink to-go before closing out a tab. You can sip as you stroll by the riverside.

It’s a convivial city. You can drive, you can walk, you can bike, you can even hop a trolley.

It’s a magical place, truly.

What’s good?

When we come, we love to visit:

  • The Lost Square, rooftop bar at the Alida Hotel.

  • Collins Quarter, brunch spot with incredible food and drinks. Get the shakshuka and the lavender latte. Thank us later.

  • Savannah Tequila Company, fantastic tacos and strong drinks. We love them so much that we’re going after the wedding.

  • Broughton Street, another historic street. Full of shopping, dining, and fun architecture.

  • Forsyth Park, a 30-acre park where anyone can lounge, nap, and play. Hosts a farmer’s market on Saturdays that is an absolute delight.
